Job Description

Pay: $35.50/hour

Our client is seeking an experienced AZ/DZ Driver to support civil infrastructure and construction projects throughout the region. This role is responsible for safely transporting equipment, materials, aggregates, and construction supplies to and from active job sites while supporting field operations as required.

The successful candidate will be a safety-focused professional with experience operating heavy trucks in construction environments and the ability to work effectively around crews, equipment, and active work zones.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Hauling

  • Operate float trucks and other heavy vehicles to transport equipment, materials, and supplies between project sites.
  • Haul aggregates, excavation spoil, pipes, construction materials, and other project-related loads.
  • Safely maneuver vehicles in tight work zones, urban environments, active traffic areas, and construction sites.
  • Load and unload materials while ensuring proper weight distribution and load securement.
  • Verify material types, quantities, and delivery locations prior to transport.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all applicable transportation regulations, health and safety legislation, and company safety policies.
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, inspection records, and transportation documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with load securement requirements, weight restrictions, and commercial vehicle regulations.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, or mechanical concerns promptly.

Site Support & Coordination

  • Coordinate deliveries and movements with site supervisors, equipment operators, labourers, and project teams.
  • Communicate effectively using radios, hand signals, and verbal instructions.
  • Follow spotter direction and established procedures when backing into restricted areas, loading zones, or excavation sites.
  • Assist with equipment loading, chaining, rigging, and securement when transporting heavy equipment.
  • Support site operations with material movement and general assistance as required.

Equipment Care & Maintenance

  • Perform regular inspections of assigned vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels, and overall vehicle condition.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.
  • Report maintenance requirements and mechanical issues in a timely manner.
  • Operate equipment responsibly to minimize wear and maximize service life.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete delivery tickets, haul sheets, time records, and material tracking documentation accurately.
  • Maintain required records to support regulatory compliance and project requirements.
  • Communicate delivery issues, material shortages, or site concerns to project leadership promptly.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy trucks within construction, civil infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Valid DZ or AZ Driver's Licence.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial transportation regulations, load securement requirements, and safe driving practices.
  • Experience hauling construction materials, aggregates, equipment, and excavation materials.
  • Ability to safely operate in active construction sites and around heavy equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
