Job Description

Pay: $29.00-$31.00/hour

Our client is seeking an experienced Skilled Labourer IV to join their growing bridge and heavy civil construction team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled construction professional who takes pride in safe work practices, quality workmanship, and supporting the success of the crew on complex infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will perform advanced construction tasks, assist with daily planning and coordination, mentor less experienced team members, and contribute to the safe and efficient completion of project work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, site rules, and applicable legislative requirements.
  • Participate in daily hazard assessments and ensure appropriate controls are in place before beginning work.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and maintain compliance with all PPE requirements.
  • Perform advanced bridge and heavy civil construction activities including formwork installation, rebar support, concrete work support, demolition activities, and restoration work.
  • Install and maintain temporary works including barriers, access systems, protection measures, and shoring components.
  • Complete work in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and established quality standards.
  • Support daily work planning activities and assist with preparing work areas for efficient execution.
  • Coordinate tools, materials, and consumables to help maintain productivity.
  • Identify potential access, sequencing, or production challenges and communicate them proactively.
  • Ensure work is completed to project specifications and quality expectations.
  • Protect completed work from damage and maintain clean, safe work areas.
  • Support inspections and testing activities by ensuring work areas are prepared and accessible.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior labourers and newer team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and training by reinforcing safe work practices and job expectations.
  • Maintain professional communication with supervisors, team members, subcontractors, and site stakeholders.

Additional Duties

  • Perform material handling activities including lifting, loading, unloading, staging, and stockpile organization.
  • Support lifting and rigging operations under the direction of qualified personnel.
  • Carry out other duties related to the role as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bridge construction, heavy civil construction, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete operations, demolition, and restoration activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and experience working in high-risk construction environments.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools and construction equipment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.
