Job Description

Pay: $65,000-$85,000/year

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Coordinator to support health, safety, and environmental initiatives across multiple construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys working closely with field operations, mentoring others, and driving a proactive safety culture within a dynamic construction environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project teams, leading site-level safety initiatives, conducting audits and investigations, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of company-wide health, safety, and environmental programs across multiple project sites.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards and verify compliance.
  • Monitor corrective actions and ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with COR, ISO standards, and other applicable safety management systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop effective corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Track and analyze incident trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to project and leadership teams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Health & Safety Coordinators and field personnel.
  • Ensure employee certifications and training records remain current and compliant.
  • Support the development of field teams through coaching and ongoing safety education.
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel to support safe project execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5–7 years of progressive health and safety experience within the construction industry.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety legislation and construction safety requirements.
  • Experience working within COR-certified environments and familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE management software; experience with SALUS is considered an asset.
  • CRSP, CSP, NCSO, or related professional designation is considered an asset.
