Job Description

Pay: $34.25-$45.50/hour

Our client is seeking an experienced Working Foreperson to join their growing civil construction team. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating and supporting daily field operations on infrastructure projects involving sewer, watermain, road reconstruction, and underground utility installations.

The successful candidate will lead by example, working alongside crews while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field crews on underground and civil infrastructure projects, coordinating daily tasks, resources, and site activities.
  • Participate in sewer, watermain, road reconstruction, excavation, grading, concrete, and utility installation work while ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through hazard assessments, toolbox talks, PPE enforcement, and adherence to OHSA and Book 7 requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship, site logistics, equipment usage, and material coordination to support project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate daily records, communicate site issues and progress updates, and liaise professionally with inspectors, subcontractors, utilities, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in civil construction, infrastructure projects, underground utilities, roadwork, or municipal servicing.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Hand, Senior Crew Member, Working Foreperson, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of sewer, watermain, road construction, and underground utility installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, grades, and elevations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and coordinate field crews.
  • Solid knowledge of OHSA requirements, Book 7 regulations, and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience operating hand tools, small equipment, and construction-related machinery.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
