Senior HSE Coordinator

Pay: $65,000-$85,000/year

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Coordinator to support health, safety, and environmental initiatives across multiple construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys working closely with field operations, mentoring others, and driving a proactive safety culture within a dynamic construction environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project teams, leading site-level safety initiatives, conducting audits and investigations, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of company-wide health, safety, and environmental programs across multiple project sites.
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards and verify compliance.
Monitor corrective actions and ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
Assist in maintaining compliance with COR, ISO standards, and other applicable safety management systems.
Conduct root cause analysis and develop effective corrective and preventative action plans.
Track and analyze incident trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to project and leadership teams.
Provide guidance and mentorship to Health & Safety Coordinators and field personnel.
Ensure employee certifications and training records remain current and compliant.
Support the development of field teams through coaching and ongoing safety education.
Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel to support safe project execution.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

5–7 years of progressive health and safety experience within the construction industry.
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety legislation and construction safety requirements.
Experience working within COR-certified environments and familiarity with ISO standards.
Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE management software; experience with SALUS is considered an asset.
CRSP, CSP, NCSO, or related professional designation is considered an asset.
