In partnership with Prime Management Group Inc., Zelus is seeking a tactful and perceptive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist with excellent business acumen to join their Stoney Creek, Ontario team!

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will possess an enthusiasm for developing an employee-focused safety culture that emphasizes an environment of quality, continuous improvement, and high performance by ensuring occupational and non-occupational compliance with regulatory concerns regarding employees. Likewise, this resourceful Safety professional will implement EHS policies and procedures; organize MSD prevention efforts and monitor safety trends for incident reduction/elimination; assist in accident/incident/illness investigations; and conduct job hazard assessments while assisting with the development of appropriate controls for all equipment and processes. In addition, this individual will professionally represent Zelus in external facing initiatives including presenting information at Town Hall Meetings and acting as a liaison between the company and Ministry of Labour inspectors.

To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you will have a post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, or related discipline, and a CRSP designation would be considered an asset. You will also have demonstrated hands-on experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role within a manufacturing environment or service industry where you have proven to be successful in promoting a safer work environment. Additionally, you will have extensive knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act. Your excellent communication and presentation skills will also be vital in order to effectively relay important information to both internal and external stakeholders. An understanding of the dynamics of the heavy equipment industry will be considered an asset and you will have the capacity to travel up to 20% of the time.
