SUPERVISOR, DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

JOB TITLE: Supervisor, Distribution Centre
LOCATION: Education Centre, London
SALARY RANGE: $79,594 - $105,260
HIRING RANGE: $79,594 - $101,589

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Supervisor, Distribution Centre is responsible for the efficient operation and distribution of mail,
school supplies, media resources, computer repairs, loan materials, furniture, equipment and other
commodities, and the supervision of staff in related positions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of Distribution Centre staff including delegation of responsibilities, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations
  • Monitor and manage the Board’s vehicular fleet including coordinating the yearly decommission of old vehicles and influx of new replacement vehicles
  • Oversee jobs with associated projects and monitor projects that are ongoing at any particular point in time
  • Coordinate moves of product required within the system
  • Coordinate collection, repurposing, or recycling of non standard surplus furniture and equipment through established policies and procedures.
WORK PERFORMED:
  • Maintain and update the inventory control system, which includes systems for receiving and distributing supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory levels, and reordering materials
  • Coordinate the efficient distribution of mail, equipment requiring repair, media resources, supplies, and loan items
  • Monitor and manage a fleet of leased Board vehicles on GeoTab in accordance with the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (COVR) regulations, Track repairs on eBase, and coordinate the yearly decommission of old vehicles and influx if new replacement vehicles
  • Maintain, manage, monitor and retain records for the Ministry of Transportation inspections
  • Coordinate moves, furniture assembly, and furnishings required to facility additions/renovations/new builds, provide a gap analysis for equipment, monitor and address any concerns regarding service levels
  • Supervise unionized staff, including delegation of work, approving vacation and work schedules, addressing performance and attendance issues, and conducting performance appraisals
  • Implement safety procedures and standards in accordance with all applicable health and safety legislation
  • Ensure staff are trained in the safe and proper use and operation of delivery vehicles, warehouse and related equipment
  • Develop and maintain cost-effective delivery routes
  • Organize and implement a yearly physical inventory
  • Organize collection and disposal of surplus furniture and equipment
  • Administer department budget, order materials, and deposit funds received from the collection of surplus furniture and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a one (1) year post-secondary program in business or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of related work experience is required
  • A background in Logistics and Scheduling is required
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation regulations and laws surrounding the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) and Ministry of Labour rules and regulations surrounding an industrial workplace is an asset
  • Project Management training is an asset
