Prime Management Group Inc. is pleased to partner with North Pole Trim & Supplies in the recruitment of a strategic and relationship-focused Manager, Employee & Labour Relations. Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate will serve as the organization’s lead labour relations advisor, providing expertise across collective agreement administration, grievance management, workplace investigations, leadership coaching, policy development, and day-to-day employee relations matters. This influential role offers the opportunity to strengthen internal effectiveness, enhance workplace practices, and advance long-term operational success through well-informed labour relations leadership.
The Manager, Employee & Labour Relations will be a trusted advisor and collaborative partner to leadership, supervisors, employees, union representatives, and external advisors, championing constructive labour-management relationships grounded in fairness, consistency, communication, and accountability. This is a hands-on opportunity for a practical, solutions-oriented labour relations professional motivated to build sustainable internal processes, strengthen leadership capabilities, and drive meaningful organizational impact in a dynamic, evolving unionized environment.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Spearhead employee and labour relations as the primary internal resource for collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, investigations, discipline, attendance management, and day-to-day guidance.
- Foster constructive labour-management relationships through consistent communication, balanced judgment, and practical issue resolution.
- Empower Managers and Supervisors through coaching, guidance, and practical support to strengthen leadership capability within a unionized environment.
- Represent the organization in labour-management meetings, grievance discussions, and workplace matters, promoting productive dialogue and timely follow-through.
- Enhance policies, procedures, training materials, templates, and documentation practices that reinforce legislative compliance, operational alignment, and sustainable labour relations.
- Partner with external labour relations consultants and legal counsel on escalated matters, arbitration preparation, labour board proceedings, and complex workplace issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7-10+ years of progressive employee and labour relations experience in a unionized private-sector environment, supported by relevant post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of grievance management, collective agreement administration, workplace investigations, employee relations, and Ontario labour legislation.
- Proven ability to build professional union relationships while balancing organizational priorities and operational requirements.
- Experience advising leaders and supervisors through sensitive workplace matters with sound judgment, discretion, and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and communication across all levels of an organization.
- Experience developing leadership training, coaching, or employee relations education in a unionized environment.
- Experience in skilled trades, manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments is a strong asset; UBC experience is also considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and relationship management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic workplace environment.
