Job Description

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.  With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie Is committed to learning, leading and Inspiring.  The Education Centre Is located In Brantford.

We are seeking a Student Monitor to join our school’s support staff team. Under the direction of the Principal, the Student Monitor will provide general supervision and monitoring of students, specially in school hallways, to ensure the ongoing safety and security of students.

Duties include:
  • support student success by building positive relationships with students within the school, specifically it-risk junior, intermediate and/or senior level students who exhibit behavioural, social and/or emotional needs;
  • support a safe learning environment throughout the day by being present throughout the building. This includes hallways, checking bathrooms, and monitoring the campus;
  • support the implementation of conflict management strategies and problem solving skills in conjunction with other staff;
  • liaise with classroom teachers and other support staff to promote student success.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: 
  • knowledge and experience supporting in-risk students experiencing social, emotional and behaviour needs;
  • knowledge and experience with problem solving and conflict resolution strategies and behaviour modification programs/strategies;
  • knowledge and experience with positive intervention strategies;
  • knowledge and experience supporting programs and activities;
  • experience and ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting;
  • experience, knowledge and expertise in accessing community supports/agencies is preferred;
  • demonstrate proficiency using computer software to support student learning;
  • first Aid/CPR training preferred.
 
Job Specifications
Hours of Work Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Rate of Pay $29.12 per hour
Effective Date As soon as can be mutually arranged to June 30, 2024
