Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.  With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie Is committed to learning, leading and Inspiring.  The Education Centre Is located In Brantford. The Board is currently seeking a temporary full-time Accounting Clerk to join our team.

Responsibilities:
Working primarily in an Accounts Payable capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of and enforcing board purchasing policies and procedures as they relate to paying invoices. The successful applicant will be responsible for the collection and processing of all reimbursements made by the board as well as downloading consolidated invoices and using Microsoft Excel to manipulate data into an appropriate format for upload into our accounting system. The successful applicant must be proficient in account reconciliations and will identify and explore opportunities in accounts payable for further consolidated invoicing and suggestions for continuous improvements and other tasks as required. Maintaining positive relationships with vendors and Board staff are other requirements.

Qualifications:
  • 1 year Community College Diploma or certificate in a Business related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a business related role is required
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and HST legislation required
  • Attention to detail with advanced computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with computerized accounting applications required
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Effective communication (oral and written), and organization skills required
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and initiative and ability to prioritize and deal with competing timelines
Must be a flexible team player who willingly shifts job assignments to achieve team goals
 
Job Specifications
Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay $27.07 per hour plus vacation pay
