Job Description

Grand Erie’s 3,000 employees provide quality education to approximately 28,000 full-time equivalent students who attend our 73 schools.  The Board spans a geographic area encompassing the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk.  The head office is located in Brantford.

We are seeking a diverse leadership pool of qualified candidates for future Principal and Vice-Principal positions.  This posting is open to both internal and external candidates.

The application must include the following:
  1. Resume
  2. Cover letter that specifies the position the candidate is applying for and includes the positive impact they aspire to have on the school community
  3. Candidate Leadership Experience Reflection
  4. 2024 Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification
  5. References:
    • Internal Candidates: Three (3) most recent supervisors, including current supervisor
    • External Candidates: Three (3) most recent supervisors including your current supervisor and Superintendent. Include contact numbers and email for each.

Professional Qualifications
  1. The applicant holds a Certificate of Principals’ Qualification indicating Part I and must complete Part II by September 2026

Experience Qualifications
  1. The applicant will have successful experience as a teacher (for Vice-Principal) and Vice-Principal (for Principal)
  2. Applicants must demonstrate:
  • effective, innovative, collaborative and change-focused leadership
  • anti-racist, anti-colonial and anti-oppressive approaches to leadership
  • an ability to implement effective practices and responses with an equity and human rights lens
  • varied curriculum experience
  • exceptional communication and organizational skills

Role Expectations

The successful candidate will provide instructional leadership, effective customer service, inspire confidence, display a high degree of motivation, competency, quality of judgement, creativity and sensitivity to others and to the present and future challenges facing education.

Working with the Superintendent/Principal of the assigned school, the successful candidate will help supervise students and staff, coordinate instructional programs, facilitate school-based staff development, develop school plans, and administer the school. 

Successful candidates will be placed on a ready to hire list for a three-year period and may be assigned at any time.

All new employees are required to provide an original Police Record check (which includes a “vulnerable sector search”) acceptable to the Board prior to the commencement of employment.
