The Facilities Management team is comprised of dedicated professionals who bring their expertise in design, maintenance, sustainability, and project management to ensure the highest standards of facility operations. 

About the Role
The Director, Building Services plays a pivotal role in ensuring a clean, safe environment for Western’s faculty, staff, students and visitors. In this role, you will provide oversight for the cleaning services of more than 95 structures, ranging from stately Collegiate Gothic buildings to gleaming state-of-the art research facilities. You will use your strategic thinking and operational skills to support the planning and management of annual operating budgets for Building Services, ensuring the effective and efficient use of financial resources, while providing strategic and tactical leadership in the development and execution of programs and policies relating to the cleanliness and related services for campus buildings and residence facilities. Your success in this role will ensure that highly efficient, client-focused and responsive services are delivered to the University community.

About You
As our ideal candidate, you have a strong record of leading and managing staff in a complex, large-scale facility. You are a collaborative leader, strategic partner, trusted advisor and innovative problem solver who enjoys working in a diverse, complex environment. You have a genuine customer service orientation with a sense of creativity and resourcefulness that enables you to proactively address business issues and identify service improvements. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a natural inclination to build relationships, coach and mentor staff, and inspire a shared vision. You are known as a skilled operations leader, with the ability to align human and financial resources to customer needs, understand key financial principles, plan and organize projects, and monitor for continuous improvement. These skills are complemented by your University Degree (preferably in a field related to Engineering and/or Business), and your previous years of experience in a unionized working environment or large commercial, industrial or institutional setting. ________________________________________
