Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie is committed to learning, leading and inspiring.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join Human Resources as the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Human Resources. This position provides executive-level administrative and confidential support to the Superintendent, acting as the primary contact for public inquires and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will handle highly sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism while supporting the efficient operation of the Superintendent’s office.
Responsibilities:
Executive and Administrative Support
All submissions are to include a complete cover letter, resume, qualifications, and the names of three (3) professional references at least one of which must be a current supervisor (one document if submitted electronically). All new employees are required to provide an original Police Record Check (which includes a “vulnerable sector search”) acceptable to the Board prior to the commencement of employment.

Responsibilities:
Executive and Administrative Support
- Provide confidential, effective, and professional administrative assistance to the Superintendent of Human Resources.
- Coordinate and manage the Superintendent’s calendar, meetings, and daily activities.
- Organize and communicate confidential information on behalf of the Superintendent.
- Support the preparation of correspondence, policies, Executive Council and Board reports.
- Process employee leaves of absence in accordance with Collective Agreements; follow up and provide recommendations in exceptional cases.
- Process and submit employee performance appraisals and New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) documentation to the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Support the Leadership Selection Process hiring pools and coordinate interviews.
- Follow up on the annual offence declaration process.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic and paper records.
- Assist with tracking budgets and system level responsibilities within the Superintendent’s portfolio.
- Review and reconcile purchasing card statements, special project payments and expense reports in accordance with Board procedures.
- Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries from schools and stakeholders; document, follow up, resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Collaborate with departmental and cross-departmental colleagues to support organizational effectiveness.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with the Senior Team, Superintendents, Executive Assistants and community partners.
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in business administration, office administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a similar executive support role.
- Preferred experience in a Human Resources department or within a school board environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook 365.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues with a high level of diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving ability, with capacity to prioritize tasks and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proactive decision-making skills with the ability to anticipate needs, exercise sound judgment, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
