Job Description
Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 9,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.
We are currently recruiting for a temporary, full time (37.5 hours per week) Parent & Community Educator in Autism & Behavioural Services to cover a leave of absence. This position is expected to begin December 2023 and end October 2024.
The designated office for the position is to be determined. Occasional travel within Southwestern Ontario may be required. A flexible work schedule is required, including some evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, organize and evaluate in-person and on-line services, such as Foundational Family Services and Educational Services
- Develop, organize and evaluate the Community Outreach Program, including:
- In-service and staff/volunteer training at community agencies and programs
- Information and education materials and presentations provided at community hubs
- Establish or support coordinated community committees, where needed
- Develop new (and review existing) information and educational material and presentations for families, caregivers, and community providers
- Work with Behaviour Clinicians, Clinical Supervisors and Clinical Director to ensure clinical content of all presentations and workshops are accurate and align with Adult Education practices
- Prepare all materials for presentations, workshops and support groups for adults and youth; may include direct facilitation of events
- Provide support and feedback to staff facilitating presentations, workshops and support groups to adults and youth
- Participate in review of service trends, brainstorming of new service offerings based on attendance information and feedback gathered over time and, collaboration of services across TVCC programs and with community partners
- Identify current TVCC and community information / resources for parents and caregivers (with Social Work Team Members) and work with Program Assistants to ensure the information is distributed and available at all locations
- A person in this position may additionally act as the Social Media Ambassador for ABS
- Undergraduate university degree in Social Services or Adult Education
- Advanced knowledge of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and demonstrated skills coaching others on ABA principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adult Learning techniques
- Able to provide coaching and feedback to others on their presentation skills
- An understanding of child development and the impact of Autism Spectrum Disorder on the development of behavioural, communication and social skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to quickly establish trusting relationships
- Advanced self-reflection skills and the ability to receive and incorporate feedback
- Understands and has experience working within models similar to TVCC philosophies and practices (i.e., Family-Centred Care, Life Needs Model and Solution-Focused Approach).
- Knowledge of service providers within the communities of Southwestern Ontario
- Strong computer skills; including proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 package of programs, especially Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR
- Proficiency in French language would be considered an asset
