Director, Project Management & Solutions Analyst
 
Position Overview:
The role of the functional Director, Project Management / Solutions Analyst is to establish, implement, develop, and ensure compliance to current or newly created ASC processes and industry best practices within the Project Management department. In general (unless dedicated team member) Project Managers will report to this position, with shared accountability to the Customer Delivery Partners. The Director is responsible for strategic and functional day to day leadership, staff allocations, performance management, individual career management and training as well as key performance metrics, hiring and terminations.
 
Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management Office – Best Practices
  • Establish, adapt, implement and enforce PM and software delivery lifecycle best practices or ensure utilization of current ASC approaches
  • Participate in project planning
  • Manage the project board
  • Resolve conflicting project priorities
  • Audit all projects for best practice compliance and report back to DP’s
  • Develop standardized templates for all products
  • Develop best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone and deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics
Personnel Management
  • Day to day supervision of PMs (resourcing and allocation of PM’s)
    • assign PM resources to projects
    • assist with projects in difficulty
    • mentor individuals in each department
    • work on individual career plans
  • Ensure regular meetings are held with PMs
  • Recruit and hire new employees into the project management group
  • Complete performance reviews (3 month, annual reviews, performance improvement plans and termination decisions)
  • Create, develop, map training plans for each employee and career development
  • Resourcing strategy – including burst-able capacity development
Administration
  • Participate in operational planning and forecasting
  • Participate in management meetings – annual budgeting, cost compliance
 Education, Experience and Competencies:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years direct experience in software development environment and minimum 5+ years in personal supervision
  • Excellent understanding of project management and Business Analysis principles
  • Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Strong communication skills (internal and external clients)
  • Solid understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Exceptionally self-motivated, directed, and detail-oriented
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid understanding of assessing and designing internal controls in an enterprise-level environment
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Background in client facing environment is an asset
  • PMP is an asset
