Job Description

SENIOR SUPPORT ANALYST

Length:  Full-time

Hours of Work:  35 hours per week 

Salary: $58,403.80 – $66,375.40 per annum

Location:  Administration Headquarters, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener

Description of Duties:

Provides technical support, training, and guidance to Regional staff, Councillors, and clients for hardware, software, and systems supported by Information Technology Services (ITS).  Provides advanced issue resolution; project coordination; support for Provincial and ministry systems; desktop configuration and deployment; technology assessments; and consulting services in support of same. Works shifts to accommodate early morning (pre-work) and after-work calls from clients. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
 
  • Knowledge of hardware and software capabilities and configuration; local and wide area networks; connectivity capabilities; personal communication devices, printers, and other peripheral devices in a large scale database, data communications, and telecommunications environment, normally acquired through a 3-year community college diploma in Computer Systems Technology, plus 3-years of related work experience.
 
  • Organization, analytical, and problem solving skills required to work independently in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities, analyze hardware and software conditions, probe for information, apply principles, and resolve client problems.
 
  • Ability to apply information from technical reference materials, periodicals, and seminars; learn new programming languages, hardware configurations, and utility programs with limited training; and maintain technical knowledge.
 
 
  • Knowledge of Regional and divisional policies and procedures, related legislation (e.g. MFIPPA, PHIPA), and established ITS standards, documentation requirements, policies, and procedures.
 
 
  • Ability to respond courteously to client issues or requests and present or explain complex issues to individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge.  Ability to present training materials and information seminars to Regional staff and Councillors.
 
  • Communication and teaching/training skills to effectively train and advise end-users with varying degrees of technical knowledge or ability.
 
  • Ability to travel to various work sites around the Region as part of regular rotation and to perform investigation or resolve service issues.
 
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member.
 
  • Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
 
 
  • Ability to compile and write memos, letters, system specifications, training manuals and materials, and to document system errors and resolutions.
 
 
  • Ability to read technical manuals, updates, bulletins, periodicals, newspapers, and magazines to maintain current knowledge of desktop technology trends and recommend cost-effective and feature-rich software and hardware solutions.  Ability to read policies and procedures, user manuals, forms, and contracts to gain an understanding of and implement program changes.
