Job Description
Agilus is recruiting for a Mortgage Accounting in the Insurance Industry, in Waterloo, Ontario.
The Associate, Mortgage Accountant will work with a team of individuals who are responsible for supporting the accounting, valuation and control requirements of the North American Mortgage portfolio for the company's General Account and Third Party Investors. This will include financial, statutory, regulatory, internal and client reporting.
Pay Rate: $42.03-$43.05/hour
Estimated Contract Length: 2021-12-20 to 2022-08-19
Location: Waterloo Ontario
Time: 8:30 am to 5pm Monday - Friday
A day in the life:
- Daily fund trial balance preparation for the Mortgage fund to ensure accurate net asset values are sent to Fund Administrator
- Performs monthly reporting, asset reconciliations, and related analysis/ investigation
- Provide evidences for audit requests
- Support for adhoc requests
- Pro-actively identifies opportunities and recommends operational efficiency and effectiveness improvements
- Contributing to a strong control environment for the accounting and reporting processes the team supports
Successful candidates will have:
- Finance or Accounting Degree or working towards (CPA) designation
- Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills - ability to apply technical knowledge to business issues
- Deadline oriented, self-motivated and capable of handling conflicting priorities
- Proficient with financial reporting systems and tools
- Strong MS Excel skill (vlookups, sumifs, pivot table, etc.)
- Financial services industry knowledge, broad understanding of Insurance and Investment Industry would be an asset
Total rewards:
- Weekly pay including 4% vacation pay
