Job Summary
 
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing specific duties.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety or qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, and chemical characteristics
  • Records tests data, applying statistical quality control procedures
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records in accordance with the Vuteq System requirements
  • Assist in the recording and analysis of defects, countermeasures and provide visual aids for decision making support

  • Perform gauge studies
  • Maintain gages at set frequencies
  • Supplier/ Customer liaison
  • Assist and plan trial activity
  • Projects as directed by Supervisor
  • Participate and promote kaizen activity
 
Job Qualifications
 
Education
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Quality Assurance Certificate
 
 
Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Excel software, Microsoft Word software

Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
 
Intellectual Activities and Requirements of this Position
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
 
Reasoning Abilities
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
