Job Description:
The Systems Tester and Integrator will be primarily be responsible for ensuring software and hardware requirements are met, specifications are followed, and customer expectations are met.  This includes validating implementations against defined requirements, and driving failures to root cause through trouble shooting of product hardware, software, and data analysis of system test data. 
In addition, the Systems Tester and Integrator would implement various system features, integrating hardware, instruments and multiple software systems, using UTEX’s InspectionWare platform.
The successful candidate would support our fast paced, progressive organization in the ongoing development in state-of-the-art NDT inspection capabilities.  We are seeking experienced people having backgrounds in software development and the ongoing desire to push the capabilities of technology to enhance our NDT products.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analysing systems requirements to develop feature specifications and testing plans
  • Define verification methods and develop: Unit tests, Integration tests, Regression tests
  • Integrate existing software and hardware products using GUI and logic tools
  • Test products in development and staging environments prior to production release
  • Consulting with clients/colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems and asking questions to obtain information, clarify details and implement information
  • Preparation of training manuals for users
  • Consulting with clients/colleagues to evaluate and maintain production systems
  • Continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications
Job Requirements:
Candidates need not have all of the following but preference will be given to candidates who provide the strongest combination of:
  • Degree /diploma in science or engineering discipline, or a combination of education and computer programming experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in a Software development environment
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong analytical skills for complex and creative problem solving
  • Strong communication, decision making, team-working and math skills
  • Planning and organizing skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Expertise in current computer hardware and software
  • Understand design requirements, perform validation, verification, assessment, recommend test scenarios and produce test cases
  • Logical programming skills, including C#, .NET, JAVA, …
  • Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Familiar with build automation and automated unit testing
  • Develop and maintain repeatable regression test suites for continuous updates for current and future tests
Additional Assets:
  • Ability to effectively use modern Integrated Development Environments (IDE’s) and an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses
  • Experience in software development methodologies like Agile Scrum approach
  • Real-time systems programming practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuits
  • Component and System Testing (preferably using IBM Rational Test Real Time)
  • Issues, defects and problem reporting and tracking methods and tools
  • Configuration and change management methods and tools
  • Strong team player and communication skill
