In partnership with Prime Management Group Inc., Steelway Building Systems is recruiting for a strategic, dynamic, detail-oriented Controller to join their team in their state-of-the-art facility in Aylmer, Ontario. Due to the retirement of their long-standing Controller, this is an opportunity to work with a well respected, motivated team of professionals in a growing organization.

Reporting to a knowledgeable committed leader, the Controller will be responsible to lead, inspire, build, and motivate a high-performance team that delivers on Steelway’s higher purpose “Enriching the lives of our partners and influencing behavior to create a culture of excellence.”

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage and direct the Finance Department team to ensure that the financial reporting and controls are performed in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
  • Mentor and coach team members to develop their skills and potential, and provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for the finance department that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Preparation of accurate monthly and year-end financial reporting for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance department including payroll, collections, banking, and taxes.
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable/Payable Coordinator to ensure invoices are processed, collected, and paid on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Work with the Assistant Controller and Partner Experience to ensure that employees are paid timely and accurately.
  • Estimate and review manufacturing costs to assist the Business Development team in preparing meaningful quotes and projections.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the company’s annual budget.
  • Maintain the books and records.
  • Maintain and implement internal controls.
  • Maintain compliance with government agencies.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements and year-end packages for external accountants.
  • Update accounting procedures & policies as required.
  • Participate and actively contribute finance recommendations on the implementation of an ERP system.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging team members to suggest new ideas and processes that can enhance efficiency and productivity.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting policies, computerized accounting systems, and job costing.
  • Exceptional people leadership skills and a history of developing high performing teams.
  • Strategic-minded person who is also hands-on and highly focused on details.
  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • A culture-focused team player who is collaborative and diplomatic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Experienced in a computerized manufacturing accounting environment preferred.
  • Experience with system implementation preferred.
