Job Description

We are currently seeking an individual to join our finance and business support department as a Project Accountant in the Innerkip, ON Head Office.
Reporting to the CFO, the Project Accountant impacts the organization by assisting with all project related accounting activities, being a direct line between finance and the Project Managers as well as providing support to the overall Finance and Business Support team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensures the proper tracking, analysis and forecasting of ongoing projects.
  • Ensures project is invoiced correctly as per contract terms.
  • Ensures all required documentation including insurance, bonding, WSIB and stat declarations are received and in place.
  • Set-up and issue all project numbers
  • Prepare annual Sub contractor reports
  • Monitor and analyze subcontractor costs
  • Preparation of sub-contractors’ agreements
  • Review cost reports to verify budgets, contracts and subcontracts have been properly tracked.
  • Assembles client billing packages in accordance with procedures and processes to ensure timely payments
  • Monitor payment status on all contracts
  • Maintain active job list & communications with project managers, subcontractors and support staff to resolve problematic issues.
  • Perform project reviews with Project management staff.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Post Secondary education, ideally a 3-year College Diploma with an accounting specialization,
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the construction industry considered an asset
  • Advanced computer skills, proficiency in MS Office specifically Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Construction Software considered an asset
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the team objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills with all levels within the organization
  • Attention to detail
