Job description 

 
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Woodstock plant complaints and non-conformities, in investigation, documentation and follow up on the implementation of methods or procedures identified as corrective actions.
 

More specifically, the Quality Control Supervisor:
 

• Champion of the non-conformity and complaint program;
• Analyse and trend complaint and non-conformity to appropriate drive projects and investigations;
• Provide direction and manage the NC committee directly;
• Coach employees and develop their skills in problem solving, investigation and documentation;
• Act as a resource to the Operations group in conducting RCA (Root Cause Analysis);
• Follow action plans of NCs, complaints and RCAs, and ensure timely completion of actions committed to;
• Be part of the investigation when stronger support is needed;
• Answer to complaints in an appropriate and timely manner;
• Act as a key contact and establish good relationships between the plant (Operations) and Sales/Marketing/Clients;
• Communicate on a regular basis the follow up on action plans submitted in major or sensitive complaints;
• Work closely with Operational Excellence Quality Manager (Corporate Quality);
• Audit and make recommendations regarding plant to assure the conformity of the product to clients specifications;
• Represent the conversion plants in Client summits and meetings;
• Assist in clients plant visits;
• Replace the Quality Manager during his/her vacation;
• Some travels might be required occasionally to the Corporate office or other plants;
• Lead the laboratory staff through daily meetings, activities and the efficient operation of the department.

Requirements 

• University Degree in a food-related field (e.g. Food Sciences, microbiology) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF 2000, and government regulations;
• Knowledge of packaging sector, an asset;
• Bilingual/French, an asset;
• 3 to 5 years experience in Continuous Improvement and Supervision;
• Skills in problem solving approach;
• Knowledge of micro-computing;
• Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Must be skillful in troubleshooting, identifying opportunities and completing root cause analysis with respect to corrective actions, and management of change.
