SUPEREVISOR, TRANSIT
Length: Full-time
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $71,058.00 – $88,822.50 per annum
Location: Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge Service Areas
Description of Duties:
Monitors on-street transit service and coordinate operations to meet established performance standards. Monitors dispatching functions and allocate operators to meet on-street operational requirements and controls; and to respond to operator and customer service issues. Directly supervises up to 300 transit operators. Works rotating shifts between 4 a.m. and 3 a.m., including weekends and statutory holidays.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
- Thorough practical knowledge of transit operations as well as a working knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, normally acquired through a college diploma in business management, operations management or related field plus significant, progressively responsible experience in public transit services, including prior driving experience in a transit system.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other related legislation.
- Human relations, leadership, and organizational skills in order to organize and coordinate the work of supervised staff; advise, supervise, instruct, and train staff in specific work methods or procedures; and participate as an effective team member.
- Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office.
- Valid class "C" driver's licence with Z-air brake endorsement.
- Ability to write accident reports, patrol inspection reports, and instructional sheets on safety matters.
- Ability to regularly respond to complaints from the public concerning a variety of transit operations issues, including routes, schedules, shelters, operator performance. Ability to verbally explain operating procedures to new employees and existing staff.
- Ability to read and interpret Health & Safety manuals, applicable collective agreements.
- Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
