The Residence Programme Coordinator (RPC) is actively involved in promoting initiatives that provide opportunities leading to the development of students as productive, well-rounded citizens, committed to their academics, the University of Guelph, and the larger Guelph community.

The position is responsible for the design and construction of structured experiences, within the residence environment and the campus community that provides developmental and academic learning opportunities for residence students.  In addition, the RPC is responsible for the training and development of residence life paraprofessional staff members to enable them to fulfill their employment requirements for programming and community development.

The RPC has several areas of responsibility, namely: the creation, promotion, and implementation of developmental programming support students’ personal, social, and academic development (i.e., the co-curriculum); supervision of the operations and staff of the programming office; advising InterHall Council (IHC); collaborating with campus partners; managing a programming budget; and fulfilling the roles and responsibilities associated with being a member of the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT), such as student staff training.

The ideal incumbent will have significant experience developing intentional and assessable learning outcomes as a way to anchor programs and evaluate relevance, overseeing educational initiatives, collaborating with various stakeholders towards a common goal, and supervising and developing training programs.

Requirements of this position include: a university degree (master’s degree preferred), four years of related professional level work experience in a residence environment, or an equivalent combination of educational and experience. Additional requirements include: strong communication and organization skills; strong leadership and ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated ability to manage conflict; strong computer skills including email, word processing and web development; a demonstrated understanding of student development theory and practice; demonstrated administrative skills and an understanding of life within a post-secondary institution.
