About the Position: 

The New Construction Sales Specialist will use their expertise in Flatout Flooring’s products and services to determine the needs of our customers and recommend suitable flooring solutions.  Focused on growing our New Construction Division, they will work on developing long-lasting relationships with builders and developers within our service area, while also supporting sales in the showroom and co-ordinating projects, as required. Through professional communication and service delivery, our Specialists ensure that our customers are comfortable and confident with all of their purchasing decisions with Flatout Flooring. Our focus is and will always remain on delivering an exceptional customer experience from initial contact and design through to coordination and installation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Service existing house accounts and develop strong and sustainable relationships with new home builders and property developers.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all products we carry, including benefits and warranties as well as flooring and design trends (training to be provided).
  • Assist new construction clients in selecting the right flooring and tile products for their projects by providing accurate information on product features, pricing, and after-sales service.
  • Interpret project drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
  • Occasionally perform accurate site measurements to determine the scope of work for quotation.
  • Utilize MeasureSquare estimating software (training provided)
  • Complete a full quantity take-off of all labour, and materials required to complete the project as per contract specifications.
  • Complete final cost estimates, incorporating all labour, and material data and submit final project details to accounting for invoicing.
  • Coordinate flooring projects from initial contact to project completion, including preparation of installation schedules, ensuring deadlines are met, and installers are prepared.
  • Communicate with suppliers to determine the availability of products, order material, and schedule deliveries.
  • Successfully resolve any potential customer concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with showroom consultants and other team members.
  • Occasionally assist with other business divisions as needs and time permit, balancing serving builder accounts and in-store clients
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Interior Design/Decorating Certificate or Construction Engineering Technology Diploma (Preferred)
  • Mature, positive, and courteous attitude
  • Sales driven and motivated to achieve goals
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in retail sales/flooring an asset
  • Construction estimating experience an asset
  • Ability to work Monday – Friday and part-time weekends.
Salary:  $50,000 - $60,000 (based on experience)
