Position Summary:
Long Point Region Conservation Authority is recruiting for the position of Supervisor of Accounting. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Services, the Supervisor of Accounting is responsible for the management of the financial accounting systems in an effective internal control environment. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day administration of general accounting, accounts receivable along with overseeing the accounts payable and payroll and benefit program. This position will assist the Manager of Corporate Services in preparing the annual budget, during the annual external audit, and in the provision of financial and accounting recommendations to other department heads and the Board of Directors.

This position plays an integral role in providing support to departments and to effective and efficient financial management of the Authority.

Qualifications:
  • University Degree/College Diploma in Accounting/Business Related Program.
  • Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountants designation or advancestanding is considered an asset.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive, related and demonstrated experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage work with minimal supervision, and completeassigned duties within timelines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Considerable experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Preferred experience with Sage 300.
  • Ability to deal courteously with the general public and all staff levels.
  • Experience creating and formatting documents, reports and schedules.
  • Ability to work independently as required.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Accounting Clerk and oversee the accounts payable and Payroll andBenefit Administration Programs.
  • Responsible for accounts receivables and campground revenue recognition andreconciliation.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and prepare monthly and quarterly financialreports.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for bank accounts and maintain investment schedules.
  • Responsible for calculating and or remitting WSIB, EHT, HST and government source deductions.
  • Record and maintain fixed asset ledgers including acquisitions, disposals, gains/losses and amortization.
  • Assists with the Authority’s general insurance administration.
  • Prepare working papers, schedules for the completion of the annual year-end audit.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget process.
  • Assist during the annual interim and year-end external audit.
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the accounting system and internal controls.
  • Prepares/updates policies and procedures related to the accounting functions/systems.
  • Other tasks as required.
Location/Working Conditions:
  • Tillsonburg Administration Building.
  • 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
  • Extra hours may be required to meet deadlines or during the interim and year-end audit.
