Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie is committed to learning, leading and inspiring. The Education Centre is located in Brantford. The Board is currently seeking a full-time Millwright to join our team.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance procedures on school shop equipment in machine shops, carpentry/wood working/ construction shops, automotive shops, fabrication shops, horticulture, and hospitality.
  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance procedures on equipment including but not restricted to air compressors, pumps, fan systems, motors mechanical drives and other power transmission systems.
  • Basic electrical wiring/connection systems, troubleshooting techniques and repairs as applied to the above shop equipment.
  • Performs mechanical repairs to drives associated with building HVAC equipment.
  • Manufactures/modifies various machined parts making use of equipment such as engine lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and other machine tools as required to support the general maintenance effort. 
  • Performs repairs requiring the use of various fabrication equipment such as MIG, stick and oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • overtime and use of a personal vehicle may be required
  • may be required to be available for a call-back outside of regular working hours for emergency situations
             
Qualifications:
  • Valid Millwright license-433A
  • Certification of Qualification as a Millwright
  • Valid Secondary School Graduation diploma
  • Knowledge of and experience with fabrication techniques such as ARC, MIG and oxy-acetylene welding and cutting procedures, metal forming, machining operations using conventional milling, turning and grinding machines.
  • Knowledge of electrical control circuits, able to troubleshoot and correct basic controls as they relate to the equipment in school tech shops.
     
Job Specifications
Hours of Work Full-time 40 hours per week, 12 months per year
Rate of Pay $28.02/hour. A very competitive benefit package is available.
