Job Description

Essential Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)

Perform repairs to machinery with regards to hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical problems
Respond to equipment breakdowns & execute repairs in a timely manner
Work with outside electrical contractor to troubleshoot equipment
Maintain spare parts inventory records, as part of Preventative Maintenance program
Involvement in team settings focused on problem solving & improvements to quality
Good knowledge and experience of press controls & functions; including safety features
Capable of learning & eventually the setup of specialized compacting presses
A team player in identifying repetitive failures and performing corrective actions
An active production team player in efficient changeovers, setups and ongoing repairs of specialized compacting presses and heat treating equipment
Setup and operate general machining equipment for basic mechanical repairs
Communicate with and direct outside contractors & equipment suppliers for major repairs
Assist with installation of new equipment and determine proper PM parameters

Skills & Knowledge

General knowledge of setup and operations of high volume manufacturing machines
Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (valves, cylinders, pressure switches, etc)
Have a good understanding of root cause analysis process
Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical and hydraulic presses
Working knowledge of heat treating equipment would be a definite asset
Knowledge of basic welding would be an asset
Skills in precision measurements

Level of Education

Post Secondary Education as Millwright / Maintenance Mechanic an asset, but not required
