SALARY and Perks
  • Permanent, full-time position. Location - London, Ontario
  • Annual base salary - between $70,000 and $75,000
  • Additional compensation based on performance

The Workforce Planning and Development Board is a leader in workforce development. We gather pertinent labour market information, provide evidence-based analysis, and engage with a broad range of workplace-based organizations, educators, governments, and other labour market stakeholders.

The WPDB works with stakeholders to provide quality labour market information so they can make decisions resulting in ensuring a thriving viable local economy.

The Executive Director helps improve the coordination of community responses to labour market issues and needs building strong community partnerships.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, reporting, financial, administrative and communications requirements of the organization. You will be working with an experienced, dynamic, and competent team that's already in place and ready to welcome you.
 

 Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                           


Creates and implements an annual business plan to submit  to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and ensures full reporting compliance absolutely meeting funder deadlines.

Maintains sound financial practices to ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all financial accounting and reporting to the Board and Ministry funders.
Works with the Board of Directors for annual budget preparation and updates ensuring adequate funds are available for the organization to carry out its mandate.
Ensures WPDB produces an annual balanced year end budget and, if possible, generates modest annual surpluses to enable strategic growth.

Writes business plans and proposals for grants and funding consistent with the mission of the organization.

Provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization.

Maintains and strengthens existing community and industry relationships. Forges new partnerships with community stakeholders and works cooperatively with other regional and provincial Workforce Planning Boards. Meets with and maintains key partnerships with City and County officials, representatives of education services, employment services, community services, local businesses, and business associations, labour associations, etc.


Oversees all aspects of WPDB’s human resources including hiring, supervision and performance management for staff, consultants or contractors engaged by or working with WPDB. Ensures compliance to minimum standards in accordance with all government legislation, regulations, and guidelines pertinent to the organization’s role as an employer and not-for-profit agency.
Supports the Board of Directors as a non-voting participant. Ensures effective governance through; maintaining and recording statutory compliance; and compliance with Bylaws and Board approved policies. Attends all Board Meetings. Supports the Board and Chairs with Board member Recruitment and Succession Planning.

Manages WPDB’s community and business profile and ensures protection and enhancement of the brand within the industry, the community and with the media, by attending events and developing strategic partnerships and relationships.

Works within the broader community and industry in a professional, responsible, and ethical manner to be the spokesperson for the organization, acting to enhance and expand the professional reputation of WPDB.
Manages internal and external communications, with Board input and approval as required.
Participates and represents WPDB within the local, provincial, and national network of not- for-profit employment organizations including attending conferences and providing necessary feedback to Board.


     
 Qualifications                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Real world working experience with evidence of an ability to meet deadlines, take responsibility and work independently.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
Minimum of two years of project management experience.
Has a proven experience in writing funding applications and negotiating contribution agreements.

Knowledge of labour market dynamics and policy.

Demonstrated working knowledge of the local community and community organizations.

Strong organizational and financial abilities for project management.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface and engage diverse groups.

Proficient computer and internet skills including Microsoft 365, Accounting software, and cloud-based technologies.

The ability to work in English and French is considered an asset.

Must have a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle.
