Job Description

Tasks:
This position provides direction, leadership and managerial control over all purchasing and inventory activities to support the production and operational requirements of the Stratford Plant.

Position Responsibilities:
- Implementation and maintenance of purchasing systems and controls.
- Ensure timely delivery of raw materials and supplies to meet production requirements in support of Large Motor and CST customer needs.
- Develop and support aggressive sourcing strategies to achieve cost reductions.
- Develop plans and implement actions to achieve inventory goals.
- Continuously improve net working capital metrics (inventory and supplier payment terms).
- Provide purchasing support for production planning/scheduling activities as required.
- Manage subcontracting requirements to support production.
- Seek out, qualify and develop suppliers to support production needs.
- Provide purchasing support on spare parts pricing requests.
- Issue and maintain Supplier Certification documentation in support of Quality program.
- Negotiate pricing and annual contracts for materials, supplies and services.
- Support Plant safety and environmental efforts.
 
Requirements:
 
Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business is highly desired. Those who meet all other requirements with demonstrated experience in the field will be considered.
 
Skills/Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of purchasing practices and 15+ years of experience.
- CAPICS or PMAC courses and/or accreditation.
- Experience in a custom manufacturing/custom metal fabrication environment and understanding of related processes.
- Strong Negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Detail oriented and be able to multi-task and handle several projects concurrently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work with internal contacts (both Plant and Corporate) and external suppliers.
