Job Description

Pay: $75,000-$95,000/year

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our clients finance team. The Senior Accountant is a senior technical contributor who ensures accurate accounting treatment for land development, construction, and capital projects, while supporting month-end close, budgeting, lender reporting, and compliance requirements. This role is well-suited to an experienced accounting professional with strong development and project accounting experience who thrives in a growing, hands-on environment.

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year

What You'll Do

  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close activities.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
  • Track and reconcile development and construction costs by project, phase, and category.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analysis, identifying variances and risks.
  • Support consolidated reporting across multiple entities.
  • Maintain development proformas, capitalized costs, and fixed asset schedules.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, financing activities, and lender reporting.
  • Prepare variance analysis comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts.
  • Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors and advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with statutory filings including HST, WSIB, EHT, and payroll remittances.
  • Identify and support process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with development, operations, and finance teams to provide accurate financial insights.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation required or actively pursuing.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and ASPE reporting standards.
  • Experience in real estate development or project-based accounting strongly preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with financial analysis and reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting audits and working with external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-finance teams.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
