Job Description
The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting department with their day-to-day functions by performing entry-level accounting duties.
The primary work focus for accounting assistants is on accounts receivable and accounts payable. In addition, they help with collections, billing, audits, and journal entries.

The primary work focus for accounting assistants is on accounts receivable and accounts payable. In addition, they help with collections, billing, audits, and journal entries.
Key Tasks included, but are not limited to:
- Manage day-to-day data entries, including but not limited to AP / AR
- Payments run based on Aging reports approved by Controller
- Journal entries / accruals as requested
- Collections, dealing with customers on a routine basis to ensure healthy AR aging
- Vendors requests on a routine basis to ensure that AP aging is accurate and up to date
- Other duties as assigned by Controller during Month end and Year end
- Use computer software to manage reports and track financial data
- Verify or reconcile bank transactions, complete deposits, or issue cheques
- Prepare and send invoices
- Monitor accounts payable, follow up on outstanding balances when required
- Interact with customers by phone and email
- Carry out administrative duties such as filing, photocopying and composing correspondence
- Posting transactions to journals and ledgers
- Processing invoices and posting payments
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
- Proven accounting experience, preferably as an AR clerk or AP clerk
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
- Excellent organizational skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Aptitude with computer software programs utilized by the company
- Excellent administrative skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to self-motivate
- Ability to work together with others
- Maintaining a Controlled Goods security clearance is an expectation of employment
