Interested in joining an outstanding hospitality team? The Culinary department is currently looking for a full-time Lead Dishwasher!

Job Description
  • Ensure that all kitchen areas, food service/preparation contact areas are clean and sanitized at end of every shift
  • Working knowledge of set up and breakdown of all Kitchen equipment and the requisite cleaning standards are met and/or exceeded within the health and safety practices of RBCPL and legislated requirements.
  • Be able to use all dishwashing equipment safely and properly as required per ministry of health guidelines and directives.
  • Hygienic maintenance of storage areas, garbage areas, main kitchen, satellite kitchens and 1St and 2nd floor back of house sanitation
  • Ware washing, glassware, silverware
  • Primary liaison with Event Services Department to provide them with clean and sanitary equipment for all services
  • Maintain and enforce all health and safety initiatives and directives
  • All other duties as assigned

Leadership
  • The position of Lead Dishwasher embraces the RBCPL’s strategic plan and positive work culture, leads by example in all aspects of the work including working with other departments in an effective and collaborative manner.
  • Assist with training, development, and supervision of dishwashers.
  • Help establish standards for associate productivity, wash ware, equipment, and supplies for the department.
  • Adapt and develop as necessary new initiatives to foster and ensure a culture of safety by encouraging associates to report hazards and to take prompt corrective action wherever hazards are noted.
  • Direct on a shift-by-shift basis the junior dishwashers to maintain and achieve maximum efficiency in the dish room.

Working Conditions
  • Job requires irregular hours, evenings, midnights and weekends.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be medically capable of performing the following functions (but not limited to) back, leg and body motions in order to lift, operate power equipment, sweep, mop, climb ladders, move furniture and supplies. 
  • Able to maneuver heavy items (max 40 lbs.).
  • This position requires intense and continual physical activity.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a hot and humid environment

Job Skills and Requirements
The successful candidate will have a passion for service excellence, be a grateful leader with strong communication and mentoring skills and possess the ability to adapt to change. Minimum Grade 12 diploma preferred or equivalent work experience as well as a minimum of 1 year dishwashing experience is required.

Total Compensation
Hourly Start Rate: $17.48      

After 400 Hours Worked: $18.67
