Job Description

Our manufacturing client is hiring for a Human Resources/Safety Coordinator to join their growing and fast paced organization. In this position you will assist in the maintenance and development of the Health and Safety program and Human Resources functions to support in all aspects of occupational health and safety and human resources. A summary of responsibilities is listed below:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage recruitment up to Sr. Manager level and internal posting process
  • Respond to Human Resources inquiries from Associates and Management.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and wellness program.
  • Manage contract renewal process in conjunction with HR/ Health and Safety Specialist.
  • Assist Production in preparation of disciplines and manage discipline spreadsheet.
  • Maintain Training Matrix for Managers and Coordinators.
  • Participate in investigations related to disciplines, violence and harassment in the workplace.
  • Update or develop company policies and procedures and Employee Handbook in conjunction with HR and Safety Manager.
  • Assist with various Health and Safety programs (i.e. Contractor, WHMIS, First Aid, hearing conservation, flu shots etc.) and safety testing in conjunction with Health and Safety Coordinator.
  • Plan and coordinate Safety Week activities in conjunction with Health and Safety Coordinator and HR/Health and Safety Specialist.
  • Back-up Health and Safety Coordinator in the administration of WSIB / Early Safe Return to work/modified duties activities and coverage for sickness/vacations.

 

Education:

  • Post Secondary Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety; Human Resources Management or equivalent,CHRP or CHRL preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years demonstrated Health and Safety/HR generalist experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Hands on experience working with Human Resources legislation and regulations.
  • 2-4 years of recruitment experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Outgoing, positive, energetic and supportive personality.
  • Organized and has the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for superior customer service.
