Program Facilitators needed for...
  • A Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) of a sexual assault resistance education program for adolescent girls
  • Positions available in Windsor, London, Kingston, and Simcoe/Brantford (3 at each site)
  • Part-time employment in the Department of Psychology, University of Windsor starting Dec. 1, 2022 for 2-years
  • Work an average of 10 hours per week across the timeframe of the study (actual hours will vary, but will generally fall between 7 and 20 hours per week), $30/h
  • Due to the sensitive nature of the research and contact with participants, Program Facilitators must identify as women and be 26y or younger
  • Program Facilitators will report to the Facilitation Trainer, Site Coordinator, and Research Manager, Department of Psychology, University of Windsor
 
Successful candidates must be:
Available for in-person training on Jan 13-15, Feb 21-23 in Windsor and Jan 27-29 in Toronto (expenses will be paid).
Able to work evening and weekend hours to deliver the sexual assault resistance program (in pairs) over the course of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Becoming trained to provide the prevention program (including self- defence instruction)
  • Learning the theoretical and empirical basis of sexual assault prevention and education
  • Working with the other facilitators (in pairs) to deliver the 12-hour program to groups of adolescents ~12-16 times between March 2023- November 2024
  • Meeting regularly in person and by teleconference with the facilitation trainer and other project team members
  • Organizing and setting up for each program session
  • Maintaining email/phone contact with adolescent participants involved in the program
  • Contributing to the research team and overall goal of the RCT by completing participant attendance records and reporting any issues to the research team
  • Other duties as require

Essential Qualifications:

  • Comfort with sensitive topics, particularly women’s sexuality and violence against girls and women; ability to talk about these issues frankly and with sensitivity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including comfort reading aloud, clearly and with emotion
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort and effectiveness in dealing with conflict
  • Ability to work as an effective team member both in delivering the program in pairs and in contributing to the research
  • Good judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal well with stress and time pressures
  • Computer skills including Word and Excel and willingness to learn other applications
  • Flexible schedule, as hours will vary each week
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Access to a computer for video-conferencing and other project-related duties
  • Driver's licence and access to a vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience in the social sciences and knowledge of experimental procedures
  • Previous work/experience with issues around violence against girls/women Previous work/experience as a program facilitator/group moderator
