Overall Responsibilities

The Millwright is responsible for repairing, installing or dismantling machinery and equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This will be accomplished through the safe and effective use of hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools. This position also requires that the Millwright troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. The Millwright is also responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment, such as motors, pumps, valves, controls, and other machines. 

 Accountabilities

  • Repair automated machinery maintenance and equipment.
  • Support and complete predictive and preventative maintenance tasks and maintain documentation.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical machine problems (hydraulic, pneumatic and some robotic).
  • Develop a deep understanding of the machine setup and operation
  • Spare parts selection and procurement.
  • Provide building maintenance and maintain equipment, such as HVAC or plumbing, both independently and through the coordination of contractors.
  • Provide basic machining and fabrication.
  • Independently interpret blue prints and engineering drawings and execute specified changes.
  • Occasionally program and modify PLC programs (Allen Bradley & Siemens).
  • Occasionally create and/or modify FANUC Robot programs.
  • Provide effective and efficient troubleshooting expertise on all automated machines using schematics and PLC logic.
  • Work with our engineering department to ensure that spare parts, training, manuals and parts standardization are adequately addressed during the installation of new equipment.
  • Be an active participant in continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure sub-contractors adhere to all plant safety standards.
  • Support production with machine setup and operation when required.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Accreditation

  • Completion of a certified apprentice program.
  • Valid Ontario 433A Millwright license or Red Seal (journeyman or higher).
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of Industrial Millwright experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and automated machinery.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Manufacturing experience is a must.
  • Superior Mig and Tig welding experience.
  • Strong English communication both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working with computer applications like Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • Exposure to programing and modifying PLC and robotic programs is considered a very strong asset.
  • Previous experience in automated robotic cell commissioning would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Night shift
  • Hands on manufacturing working with automated machinery.
  • 75 to 100% of time spent standing on a concreate floor.
  • Tools: Maintenance staff are expected to supply their own working tools; candidates will be given an annual allowance.
