We currently have an opening in our Brantford, Ontario location for an Inventory/Cost Accountant. Reporting to the Controller – Packaged Pools on our Canadian Finance team, this role is responsible for all inventory accounting functions, including the ongoing analysis of standards and variances across various product lines and the tracing of costs back to underlying activities. The ability to drive business and financial process improvement across the company will be critical for success in this role and future growth opportunities with the company.

• Developing inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances.
• Verifying accurate standard and actual costs.
• Prepare variance reports and analyzing variances
• Updating costs in bills of materials and ECO’s.
• Monitoring inventory transactions.
• Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger.
• Coordinating physical inventory and cycle counts.
• Investigating cycle count variances and resolving issues.
• Validating cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
• Accumulating and applying overhead costs.
• Working with Operations to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
• Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.
• Performing month end, year end closes and audit requirements
• Preparing journal entries.
• Projects as required as assigned by the Controller and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

 
Required Qualifications and Experience:
 

• College or University degree in Accounting, solid understanding of, accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Five or more years of Inventory or Cost Accounting experience, notably with System 21, AS/400, Host Analytics or other financial consolidation tools (Hyperion) preferred.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
