Job Description

Union Gas, in partnership with Randstad Engineering, is currently hiring a Corrosion CP2 to join their team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Accountable for the long term effectiveness of the cathodic protection system in functional area, this includes daily monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Work activities include: taking reads, field surveys, testing, troubleshooting, locating faults, and resolving malfunctions with the cathodic protection systems used to protect Union Gas facilities from Corrosion.
- Troubleshoots, identifies and assesses all major faults impacting cathodic protection. Coordinates and provides direction for the preparation and completion of corrective actions within the established timeframes.
- Monitors cathodic protection systems for all Distribution, Transmission and Station piping.
- Coordinates the installation of standard and alternative cathodic protection systems. Leads pre-job meetings to review work practices and completion of work to Union Gas standards. Provides leadership and direction during the installation.
- Inputs, extracts, maintain and/or updates data related to completed surveys, re-reads, as-built’s, or DMWO’s into the Corrosion Register.
- Researches and reviews literature and tests new developments in corrosion control method for possible implementation to Union Gas’ transmission and distribution system and make recommendations to Corrosion Engineering.

As a qualified candidate, you meet the following requirements:
- Post-Secondary technical education (Engineering Diploma, CET or Certified Industrial Electrician) or equivalent field experience.
- Current member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and certified as a Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) and Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2)
- Familiarity with processes and procedures and able to recommend improvements.
- Able to operate MS Office, read construction drawings, and able to perform basic instrument calibration
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting techniques and commissioning new Cathodic Protection systems.
- Experience in field operations (construction, plant maintenance, locating…etc).
