Job Summary
 
Provides tooling and mold flow support for new and existing programs.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Involved in the analysis of technical data (drawings, data, and sketch, etc.)
  • Provides insight into manufacturability of products based on drawing or design
  • Offers feedback to customers and offers suggestions on the design change in order to improve part feasibility
  • Perform mold flow analysis on new and existing programs
  • Prepares tooling specs and data for kick-off and ECI’s
  • Conducts tooling design reviews to ensure cost and quality requirements are met
  • Schedules and attends tooling trials with primary goal of ensuring Mold Flow correlation to actual condition
  • Qualifies tooling is ready for production
  • Develops and maintains Vuteq Canada Mold flow procedures, Injection Mold Design and Build Standards
  • Works with production to troubleshoot tooling issues
  • Develops and supports development of databased best practices
Additional Responsibilities
  • Prepares RFQ’s and reviews quotes for new programs and engineering changes
  • Prepares and maintains quote summaries for each program
  • Prepares/analyzes tooling cost breakdowns
  • Establishes target pricing for tool shops and negotiates final price
  • Investigates/benchmarks tooling innovations
  • Supports tooling cost control
  • Assists sales department in quotation process

  • Lead by example the develop of a positive and productive professional relationships with internal (Vuteq) and external customers.
  • Demonstrate ownership of a project or procedure
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of data (performance/dimensional) to understand trends and implement corrective action.
  • Work effectively across cultures in a global environment.
Job Qualifications
 
Education
  • Two year college or technical school program in related discipline; 5 years minimum related tooling experience
  • Good knowledge of the injection molding machine process including troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of plastic and the properties of plastics an advantage
Training
  • CAD software
  • Mold flow software
Computer Skills
  • Design software (Catia V5, UG NX), manufacturing software (Cimatron), spreadsheet software, word processing software, MoldFlow software
Working Conditions
           
Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must regularly lift/ move up to 10lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and distance.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
Work Environment
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel. The noise level in the work environment is quiet.
