Currently seeking an
 Afternoon Shift Production Supervisor
(Permanent Full Time)
 
 
 
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Function as a strategic and innovative business partner to Production manager and senior management
  • Manage the afternoon shift production process on a timely manner ensuring achievements of daily/weekly production schedules to meet delivery commitments in close coordination with the production manager.
  • Develop and prepare daily/weekly production in coordination with the production manager and other departments to set production targets and optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Expedite products as needed to meet shipments schedule and delivery commitment
  • Watch for the quality of final products and ensure that orders shipped to the customer comply with minimum company quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal health and Safety Act as well Employment Standard Act regulations.
  • Establish work schedules, Inspect and review for quality control and environmental standards
  • Recommend measures and assist in the development or revision of work practices to improve productivity and product quality
  • Supervise, coordinate manpower planning and schedule activities of workers and time off approvals
  • Request and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions as needed in line with the company progressive disciplinary system and as required on a case by case basis
  • Ensure all Health & Safety Procedures are followed
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies and procedures
  • Indentify Training needs and ensure that training is provided on a timely manner
  • Audit quality issues – Hold/Rework
  • An ability to complete incident investigations, assist in WSIB areas, administer First Aid and complete reports as required to include but not limited to WSIB forms, Return to work program, etc…
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of continuous improvement of procedures
  • Observe and assist in the evaluation of employee performance to ensure compliance with company standards and goals
  • Assist in team building, motivation and conflict resolution amongst team members & identify opportunities for improving employee relations
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching and promote employees careers development and growth
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Accurately complete and maintain all relevant and appropriate documents on a timely manner as set by government regulations and company policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities with the operations as required by the Production manager
 
Key skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable local law, provincial and federal regulations and law pertaining to the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to acquire good knowledge of company policies and procedures as well as the company health & safety program and commitment to implement / reinforce them in a positive, productive manner
  • Good understanding of manufacturing process, planning setting priorities and follow up on execution
  • Possess team Building skills: Must be a team player, willing to assist others in a fast paced environment
  • Familiarity with highly automated process/packaging technology is an asset
  • Job task planning and organizing, Computer use, Continuous learning
  • Excellent communication: ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent troubleshooting: ability to provide technical leadership, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Possess a proactive rather than reactive style of conductive business
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignment simultaneously
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability and willingness to coach, develop, mentor and retain others.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word is essential
 
Education/Experience Desired:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A college / University Degree in a related discipline will be a plus
  • Minimum 5  to 8 years supervisor leadership experience in industrial manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as Production supervisor in the food industry is an asset
  • Previous experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) will be a plus.
