Job Description

The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex has an opening for the position of Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer.  Our agency provides child protection services and collaborates with the community to promote the safety, well-being, cultural identity and lifelong connections for children and youth with their family and community.

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Director committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and to excellence in service delivery. 

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), and working in close collaboration with the ED, the Board, and the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Corporate Services contributes to the development of the Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex’s (CASLM) policy and strategic planning and assumes oversight for the organization’s financial viability and accountability.  This position will lead the development and implementation of all activities relating to the management and functional operations of Finance, Information Technology (I.T.), Facilities, and Administrative Services.

With a focus on visionary leadership, collaboration and direction, the Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer will successfully lead, manage, and inspire a high performance team enabling and empowering these individuals to achieve their strategic and community related accountabilities. This position demonstrates quality, productivity, and a high level of responsiveness.

As a champion for organizational excellence, the Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer will continually challenge the status quo with an emphasis on developing a culture that is inspired and motivated by change and opportunities.

The Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer also establishes and maintains strong relationships and alliances with community partners and government to build and execute strategic programs that address mission-critical issues for CASLM.

In all activities, the Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer acts in accordance with the policies and practices of the CASLM, professional accounting standards, and all legal and government requirements.

Qualifications: Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Business or a recognized Canadian Accounting designation (CPA with a CA, CGA, and/or CMA required). Minimum of 10 years work experience in a progressive work environment. Expert knowledge of accounting practices in the public sector including grant and fund accounting, budget analysis, preparation of financial statements, and interpretation of financial information. Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). Strong knowledge of funding frameworks. Strong analytical skills. Excellent understanding of the role of information technology in service delivery and an ability to identify trends and a vision the future. A strong working knowledge of property management, contract administration, and project management.  A strategic planner with the ability to translate complex concepts into operational processes. A conceptual thinker and a master at developing and implementing strategies that will contribute to CASLM’s success. A demonstrated bias for action and superior quality in all work activities and deliverables. High impact communication skills, including group facilitation, and superior written communication skills.  Proven ability to tailor information to a wide variety of audiences. Exemplary visioning, planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across the organization.  Superior software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Proven ability to manage teams.  Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and organization. Ability to perform during periods of multiple demands. Ability to understand and manage with complex situations. Superior customer service skills with a focus on empowerment, respect, and collaboration. Proven ability to work collaboratively across the agency. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiating skills
