Job Description

Timberland Equipment Limited is currently looking for HELP DESK SUPPORT.

This position is responsible for desktop support and will include assisting in the maintenance of diverse Windows environments within our networks. Also, this position assists with ensuring the stable operation of the in-house computer network and all connected PCs and peripherals, including developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the network, hardware, software and communication links. Provides tier one users support and trouble shooting. This overview is to be used as a guideline only and may not incorporate all functions of the job.


Responsibilities
- perform network and capacity planning
- oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices
- interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure network products and services
- manage servers, including email, print, internal services for source control and issue tracking as well
- maintain and verify backup servers/systems
- manage security solutions, invluding firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems
- provide first hand support, IT training, and troubleshooting  to all office staff for IT matters
- ensure network connectivity of all workstations
- administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades
- practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
- administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
- perform system backups and recovery
- monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
- recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs
- develop, document and train on hardware installation and troubleshooting procedures

Attributes we seek:
- post secondary education in computer science with a focus on networks
- working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8 and 10, Windows 2000/2003/2008/2013 server
- hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- able to install, support and troubleshoot server and PC hardware components and peripherals
- proven excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills
- ability to investigate and research networing issues and products as required
- proven ability to present ideas in user-friendly and non-technical language
- highly self-motivated and directed
- able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- perform overtime hours as required by assigned projects
- travel up to 25% of the time
