As a company in the Timberland Group, TIMBERLAND EQUIPMENT LIMITED is a Canadian-owned, entrepreneurial, globally recognized company located in Woodstock, Ontario, where we are a fully operational facility with sales, engineering, and manufacturing departments all under one roof.  

We are looking for a Service Technician. This is a full-time position with an attractive compensation package for the right candidate.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for commissioning, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and servicing equipment at customer sites. When in the office this position is responsible for inside sales, customer support, order processing, completing documentation for repairs, service and parts and entering information into system. The position overview is to be used as a guideline only and may not incorporate all functions of the job.
  • Participate in the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure equipment is installed and functioning according to specifications
  • Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild and maintain equipment
  • Operate and inspect machines/equipment to diagnose problems
  • Component selection for repair of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoists and power tools
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear; test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports related to electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems 
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of assigned projects
  • Confer with personnel to resolve equipment malfunctions, production issues or challenges and provide technical information
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations for improvement
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to provide cost effective solutions to design challenges
  • Provide telephone service support, answering inquiries on service and products 
  • Maintain systems such as, filing, correspondence tracking, as well as searching internal systems and/or accessing departmental information to track information
  • Prepare various documents from written or verbal instructions 
  • Receive and review orders for clarity, accuracy, and completeness 
  • Prepare expense and service reports using MS Excel
  • Maintain and build relationships with current and new customers
  • Contact customers to follow up on service and status of order as well as generate service contracts
TRAVEL
This position requires domestic and international travel, approximately 50% of the time, to support the manufacturing of capital equipment, commission and repair equipment, and train customers.

ATTRIBUTES WE SEEK
  • Mechanical Technician/Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent experience
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude proven through troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and hydraulics problems 
  • 5 years of hands-on field experience in troubleshooting and servicing heavy equipment 
  • PLC programming background (Allen Bradley and Siemens) an asset
  • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods 
  • Willing and able to work independently and with minimal supervision
