The Manager, will lead the Brand and Engagement team, providing strategic oversight, development and execution of TechAlliance’s marketing and engagement initiatives, including communications, brand, digital engagement (websites, digital marketing, social media), and ecosystem experiences. This role is an exciting opportunity to build on a strong foundation to engage clients, members, stakeholders, government, investors, and ecosystem influencers as TechAlliance executes a bold, new vision. 

The Manager will report to the Vice President and work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other departments to elevate TechAlliance’s brand and support the organization’s business priorities. As a creative leader, you can conceptualize, lead and implement alongside your team to create compelling customer centric products with a results-driven attitude.  You enjoy storytelling and connecting people to the brand and our clients, through engaging content and exceptional community events for industry leaders, tech talent and founders.  Your excellent communication and project management skills motivate others to generate action from all levels of the organization, enabling productivity in both short and long-term projects. 

Marketing Strategy & Planning 

  • Develop, lead, and execute annual brand, engagement strategy and planning activities to ensure the organization meets business plan objectives and priorities including growth, operational and partner targets. 

  • Support the Vice President in developing the organization's brand, communications and growth strategies and develop executable plans to successfully deliver outcomes, including planning, execution, and optimization of specific marketing campaigns. 

  • Grow and champion the TechAlliance brand as Canada’s thought leader, voice, and elevate organizational reputation on local, regional, and national levels. 

  • Lead the go-to-market strategies for new and existing experiences/events, education series, networking circles, member activities, and new funding outcomes. 

  • Establish and own a measurement and evaluation framework for marketing, communications and engagement, capturing stakeholder feedback and identifying actionable insights to further support the organization’s strategic priorities. 

  • Develop and execute social media strategy and grow and enhance TechAlliance’s digital presence across all channels. 

  • Deliver high-quality, cohesive brand, positioning, and value propositions across all channels. 

Performance Marketing & Operations 

  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing and communications campaigns, plans, and approaches to reach and engage with multiple audiences. 

  • Support the development and maintenance of TechAlliance’s digital presence including websites, social media channels and other public-facing digital assets from a marketing and communications perspective, including content strategy. 

  • Support the development and roll out of new initiatives, programs, and partnerships. 

  • Source and manage vendors/agencies to drive marketing activities (e.g., website development, freelance writing, video production, etc.) 

  • Oversee all TechAlliance events and participation in external events and collaborations (including branding, experience, and technology). 

  • Leverage analytics to continuously improve and drive business results. 

  • Establish, track and assure adherence to budgets, campaign and marketing objectives and KPIs. 

Team Management and Development 

  • Lead and mentor direct reports, developing team members to advance their areas of expertise, aligned to our organization's core values of bold, impact and real, to ensure they have the requisite skills to contribute meaningfully to a high-performing team.  

  • Create opportunities for individual and team feedback and support with open communication, providing coaching and guidance as needed. 

Budget Management 

  • Manage, monitor, and optimize marketing budget including special events, and report variances. 

  • Establish benchmarks and monitor cost effectiveness of key activities (e.g. cost per lead, conversion, web performance). 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 7-10 years equivalent experience working in marketing, communications, special events, community engagement or a related field. 

  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, as well as with many external stakeholders. 

  • Experience in developing and executing all forms of digital and traditional communications. Technical proficiency with platforms such as Monday, Slack, MS Office 365, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress (or similar) preferred. 

  • Solid competency in measuring the performance of marketing and communications strategies, including digital, social media and websites, with direct experience owning or driving organic and paid digital channels (SEO, SEM, social) as well as email efforts. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of key partners in the tech ecosystem and keen to engage with and influence elected officials, government relations, bureaucrats and advocacy groups. 

  • Highly developed skills in organizational efficiency, budget management and project leadership, including demonstrated accomplishments while working with cross-functional teams.  

  • Strong team player with great interpersonal and communication skills who is able to contribute to a vibrant team culture and core values, while prioritizing multiple and changing demands.  

  • Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning and time management while working independently using an above average level of initiative and demonstrated experience in exercising diplomacy and good judgement.
