Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP) located in St. Marys, Ontario, is the largest Veterinary Supplier in Ontario and is currently looking to add a dynamic individual within our I.T. department for the full-time position of:

Full Stack Developer / Team Lead

Reporting to the I.T. Manager, the Lead Full-Stack Developer, is responsible for the overall analysis design, development, and user experience of all web systems both public and internally facing. Manages development projects and may be required to supervise the work of others. Is focused on meeting user needs and improving the stability and efficiency of the VPs internal electronic processes.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analysis: Provides professional expertise and leads the analysis of client business and functional requirements for projects of medium and large scope and assists in determining technical, operational, and economic feasibility.
  • Design: Provides leadership in the creation of technical designs and system specifications or plans in order to translate requirements into technical specification documents and solutions. Create complex, multi-platform-compatible user interfaces for engineering outreach systems and activities. Leverage the latest web technologies and best practices to provide usable and consistent user interfaces
  • Development and Testing: Develops and writes complex programs and oversees the work of others in developing effective program code, tests, debugs and performs integration tests to ensure correct functionality of software. Develop user requirement documents for signoff
  • Participate in code review sessions as well as agile scrums
  • Create both user documentation as well as technical support and operations documentation
  • Understand and follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Be a lifetime learner and attend training to enhance skills.
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful Candidate should have:
 
  • University degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Programmer/Analyst, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Programmer/ Analyst role
  • Advanced knowledge & experience with development using various technologies, libraries & programming languages such as Clojure, Javascript, Angular, HTML5, CSS, PHP, Ruby, JSON, JQuery, Experience working with Query writing, Postgress, DB2 and SQL databases, Linux and Microsoft operating systems, GIT, Java, and Cognos and Power BI reporting tools
  • Experience working with APIs and Microservices
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and project management skills
  • Ability to adapt and learn new software
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
