Job Description

CONTROLLER/OFFICE MANAGER  

Since 1998 Cronin Family Farms has operated a successful family farm business in the Bluevale area. This progressive swine operation is seeking a full time Controller/Office Manager to join their dynamic and passionate management team. With operations in both Canada and the US, this position will manage the overall financial operations of the company and provide accurate and up to date information to the Owners. This includes; analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of financial reports.  The Controller/Office Manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures. Eligible candidates must be flexible and able to work in an open team environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, reconciliations and financial statement preparation
  • Analyze accounts, records, reports, journal entries, ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy, adequacy, reasonableness, and other proper accounting treatment as required
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial files
  • Implement and manage internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures
  • Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis and reporting
  • Maintain constant interaction with the accounting team and ownership group
 
Qualification and Experience
  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation preferred or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and application
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • High level of critical and logical thinking and analysis
  • Ability to organize and plan multiple objectives within established timelines
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, and with external sources, in both verbal and written form
  • Experience with agriculture programs and reporting is an asset
