Responsibilities

The Industry Project Coordinator will develop and support course-based industry projects for Western students in the Faculties of Arts & Humanities, Information & Media Studies, and Social Science. Industry projects are a form of experiential learning that involves students working with an external partner on a specific project to propose strategies that address an organizational challenge or idea. By engaging in industry projects, students gain transferrable skills, explore career paths, and strengthen their employability for other forms of work integrated learning. The Industry Project Coordinator is a member of the Experiential Learning unit within the Careers & Experience department, and contributes to the goal of every student graduating with at least one opportunity for experiential learning.

Qualifications

Education:
-    Undergraduate degree
-    Master’s degree in Education or related field is preferred

Experience:
-   3 years' related experience in the employment or recruitment industry, economic development, human resources, education, non-profit or government sectors
-   Experience with program management
-   Experience building effective cross-sector partnerships
-   Experience working in a university environment, preferably with a student services background would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively deliver presentations to small and large groups
-    Ability to establish meaningful and long-lasting partnerships
-    Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment
-    Proven ability to effectively manage a project from beginning to end
-    Ability to research and keep up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in the field
-    Strong commitment to customer service, including needs assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement
-    Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing priorities and quick turnaround times
-    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
-    Strong organization skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize for high quality outcomes
-    Intermediate computer skills and the ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
