Working as an Electric Utility Worker in the Line Department, under the direction of the Line & Forestry Superintendent, or designate, you will provide assistance in the day-to-day operations of the Line and Forestry Departments – from assisting with general labour, snow removal and traffic control, to repairing small tools and equipment.

JOB DUTIES
As part of your responsibilities as an Electric Utility Worker, you will:
- Assist with general labour, maintenance, cleaning and minor snow removal.
- Request and receive locates for Line Department, as required, and attend on site to meet with locators and/or to install stakes for locate request purposes.
- Pick up and deliver personnel, trucks, trailers, materials, and tools/equipment to work sites.
- Clean sites after completion of work, ensuring the site is left in a safe condition.
- Assist in traffic control to prevent accidents and ensure traffic flow around work sites.
- Deliver cards at customer homes for hydro outages and planned work in the area.
- Remove reusable hardware from transformers or other devices destined for scrap.
- Maintain, and perform minor repairs to, small tools and equipment (e.g. replacing bolts on a ladder, fixing a handle on shovels and sledge hammers, cleaning an Ampact gun).
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA's Electrical Utility Safety Rules, London Hydro safe work practices and procedures, and all components of London Hydro's health and safety program.
The qualified Electric Utility Worker we seek for this opportunity must be able to meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- A valid Class DZ Driver's Licence (a driver's licence and an ability to drive are required in order to discharge the essential duties of the position).
- Full awareness of job hazards and ability to use appropriate safety equipment and procedures to protect self and others.
