Job Description

Role:
The Financial Manager is responsible for all financial transactions and bookkeeping and all personnel involved with accounting.  The Financial Manger is also responsible for the preparation of all financial data, bank reconciliations and disbursements, cash and credit card security for two operating companies.   The Financial Manager reports directly to to the General Store Manager or owner.
Duties:
Monitor and assist with accounts payable including verifying supplier invoices to purchase orders, data input to POS, processing and monitoring payments and expenditures, ensuring vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.
  • Overseeing accounts receivable and collections including monitoring customer accounts for prompt or non-payment.
  • Ensure all payroll records for employees are maintained.  Supervise the preparation of bi-weekly payroll, monthly remittances, ROEs and T4’s and any other payroll reports.
  • Monthly reconciliations of financial data including bank, credit card, and gift cards.
  • Maintain the general ledger including preparation of monthly P & L statements.
  • Administer company insurance and benefit plans.
  • Liaise with company accountants in preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Maintain security on office computer system and POS system.
  • Ensure all tax obligations are met on time.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by Store General Manager and/or owner.
 
Financial Manager required

Springfield Timber Mart and Springfield Building Components are attempting to replace Kelly Pearson, our existing Financial Manager, who has grown and evolved with us for the past 28 years and is now retiring. Obviously, after 28 years, we do not do this very often and we are attempting the find the right replacement that will work with our team of dedicated, long term employees.    Our accounting department consists of two people who are jack of all trades and master of most of them, and this will be the senior position in that department.
Applicants will require a strong financial education and extensive experience in running the financial department of a small to medium size business that has a computerized POS system.  
This position is open for immediate employment.
Kelly will be with us until Dec. 19/14. The more time you spend with her before she retires the better you will be equipped to assume her responsibilities.  Besides, our fiscal year end is November 30th and her help and guidance getting through your 1st year end would be invaluable.
