Job Description

Provide support and direction to the Axle department in the area of quality assurance.

Location: Ingersoll, Ontario
Reports To: Quality Manager
Experience/Proficiency: 3-5 Years of Related Experience
Education: Post-Secondary Education; Quality Assurance Certification (CQE/QCA)
Hours: 40

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of product, process or quality system non-conformance
  • Identify and record and problems relating to the product, process or quality system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Develop action plans and implement the necessary requirements for all non-conforming items.
  • Participate in the APQP process to ensure:
  • Feasibility of the design and process to produce the product as specified.
  • Address any quality issues, including GD&T, gauge design, testing requirements and timing, capability study requirements and timing, applied statistical methods, and Advanced Quality Plans (such as prototype, pre-launch, and production control plans, etc.).
  • Recommend designation of KPC’s, KCC’s
  • Support and participate in APQP activities and trials (such as packaging trials, paint/process trials, etc.) as required.
  • Responsible for communicating customer requirements and standards within the organization.
  • Review customer, internal, and supplier rejections. Initiate, coordinate, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions and recommend course of action.
  • Represent the “Voice of the Customer” in part quality issues. Recommend acceptance or rejection.
  • Responsible for preparing PPAP submissions and reviewing supplier PPAP documentation.
  • Review ECN’s for quality issues. Contact the customer for approval when necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in dimensional evaluation of parts using appropriate gauges and fixtures including SPC studies. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated prior to use. Promptly report any items that are found to be out of calibration and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and participate in Gauge Accuracy, Repeatability and Reproducibility Studies.
  • Perform process capability and process performance (KCC) studies and data collection. Report results on the appropriate statistical charts.
  • Train operators and quality auditors to perform in-process inspections. Participate in operator and Quality Inspector training.
  • Monitor process, product, and quality system performance in accordance with the applicable product standard and procedures. Report and initiate corrective action for all non-conformances.
  • Participate as required in cross functional team activities.
  • Responsible for relating customer requirements standards within the organization and to supply base.
  • Review internal, customer and supplier rejections. Initiate, coordinate, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions and recommend course of action.
  • Train Receiving Inspectors to perform receiving inspections. Participate in operator and Quality Inspector training. Develop RIR’s.
  • Perform product, process, supplier and system audits
  • Carryout other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dirt and noise in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to chemical, welding sparks and flash.
  • Travel required.
